Description

A private first check of sperm concentration at home. The parahealth diagnostics SP-10 male fertility test estimates whether the sperm concentration in a semen sample is above or below the test threshold. Once the prepared sample is added, read the result after 5 minutes. The cassette is designed for self-testing and provides clear orientation before deciding on further medical assessment.

What the sperm test determines

The rapid test qualitatively detects the sperm-specific acrosomal protein SP-10. It indicates whether the sperm concentration in the sample is at or above 15 million sperm per millilitre, or below this threshold. This gives you a discreet and straightforward first point of orientation at home.

  • Private home use: perform the test in your own environment.
  • Clear threshold result: the cassette shows one of three outcomes, normal, abnormal, or invalid.
  • Result after 5 minutes: once the prepared sample has been applied.
  • Complete single-test kit: the required test components and instructions are included. A timer is also needed and is not included.
  • CE-marked self-test IVD: identified as CE 0123 in the current instructions for use.

What the test cannot assess

Sperm concentration is only one part of male fertility. This test does not assess sperm movement, shape, total sperm count across the full ejaculate, semen volume, pH, or other clinical parameters. It is not a complete semen analysis and cannot confirm fertility or infertility. A result at or above the threshold does not guarantee conception.

Sample type and result time

Sample Fresh human semen collected in the supplied cup
Before collection Allow 3 to 7 days since the last ejaculation, according to the current instructions for use
Liquefaction Leave the sample at room temperature for 60 minutes, until fully liquefied
Sample for dilution 0.1 mL
Prepared sample on cassette 2 full drops, approximately 80 microlitres
Read time Read after 5 minutes and do not interpret after 10 minutes

Use according to the instructions for use

Read the enclosed instructions completely before starting. Bring the test and sample to room temperature. Collect the sample in the supplied cup and let it stand for 60 minutes until fully liquefied. Use the transfer device to add 0.1 mL of semen to the dilution buffer, turn the tube upside down 5 to 10 times, then place 2 full drops of the diluted sample into the cassette sample well. Start a timer and read the result after 5 minutes. Do not interpret the cassette after 10 minutes.

Use the product once only. Do not use it if the foil pouch is damaged, after the expiry date, or with any sample other than human semen. Store the sealed test at 2 to 30 degrees Celsius and do not freeze it.

Understanding the result and its limits

Display Result Meaning
Control line C and test line T Normal The sperm concentration is at or above 15 million per millilitre. Any visible shade in the T region counts as a line. This does not prove fertility.
Control line C only Abnormal The sperm concentration is below 15 million per millilitre. One result does not establish infertility. Follow the instructions for repeat testing and seek medical advice if an abnormal result repeats.
No control line C Invalid The test has not run correctly. Repeat it with a new cassette and follow the instructions carefully.

If a result appears doubtful or inaccurate, the current instructions advise repeating the test with a new unit after 6 days and avoiding sexual activity until the repeat test. If the second result is also abnormal, discuss it with a doctor or another qualified medical professional.

When medical assessment is advisable

A medical semen analysis is the more comprehensive next step if a home result is repeatedly abnormal, if you have concerns about fertility, or if pregnancy has not occurred despite regular unprotected intercourse. Seek prompt medical advice for pain, swelling, a lump, or other noticeable changes in the testicular area. A doctor can assess the result in the context of medical history and other relevant factors.

Frequently asked questions

What does the parahealth diagnostics sperm test measure?

It estimates whether sperm concentration in a semen sample is at or above 15 million per millilitre, or below this threshold, by detecting the sperm-specific protein SP-10.

Is a home sperm test the same as a semen analysis?

No. The home test provides a threshold result for sperm concentration. A laboratory semen analysis examines several parameters, including concentration, total number, movement, shape, volume, and other characteristics.

How long does the test take?

The sample must first stand for 60 minutes until fully liquefied. After the diluted sample is added to the cassette, read the result at 5 minutes and not after 10 minutes.

Does a normal result prove that I am fertile?

No. A result at or above the threshold is encouraging for the parameter measured, but it does not assess every factor involved in conception and does not guarantee fertility.

What should I do after an abnormal result?

Follow the current instructions for repeat testing. If the result is abnormal again, discuss it with a doctor or another qualified medical professional. A laboratory semen analysis can provide a broader assessment.

Can I buy the test without a prescription?

The product is designed as a self-test for home use. Current price, stock, delivery information, and quantity options are shown in the dynamic shop elements on this page.
