Clinical relevance
Microalbuminuria – the excretion of small amounts of albumin in urine – is a key early indicator of diabetic nephropathy and hypertensive kidney disease, and is an independent cardiovascular risk marker. How to perform the test
Remove a test strip from the canister, close the canister immediately to protect remaining strips from moisture, and briefly immerse the reactive pad in a fresh urine sample. Remove excess urine, wait approximately 1 minute and compare the color change of the pad with the reference scale on the canister label to read the semi-quantitative result.
